We left Narbonne last Wednesday to Fumel. It took 3 1/2 hours. We picked up Karine and Charly and went to lunch in a nice hotel/ resort not too far. It has a park like La Caille kind of. We had a thin steak and small potatoes. And before a plate of smoked salmon and stuff.

We left Fumel for Conques area and arrived at our hotel around 8 PM. Lots of very small roads through mountains and forests. I hope the navigation system in the car took us the best way. I think so. We had dinner there as soon as we arrived and went to bed.

We ate stuffed pig feet with aligot which is mashed potatoes mixed with cheese. All was delicious.

On Thursday morning we traveled more small roads through hills and wooded areas to Conques.

We walked very slowly to the entrance to the church and chatted with some nice people sitting on a small wall. Before the visit we decided to lunch at the hotel where I spent two nights several years ago. We ate Tripoux with more aligot.

We then visited the church slowly and admired the stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages.  There is a lot to say about Soulages. But not now.

We traveled South in the afternoon to Rodez. First we scouted where the Soulages Museum was with parking location, hours etc... and checked in at our hotel Campanile. We ate there.  They had a nive salad bar which is what I wanted. Slept well.

The next morning we had coffee and left for the museum.  Easy parking near by. We had a spot of lunch before entering the museum at 11 AM. Not too many people.  Learned a lot about the techniques invented by Soulages. He is still alive and often comes to the museum. Rodez is his birth place.

We left Rodez around 4 PM and drove 2 hours to Narbonne through Millau and its famous ($ 10 toll) viaduc.

Since our return Saturday through today Tuesday, Madeleine had a very bad day with her condition and we simply ate a nice dinner, napped, and went out for a short drive for shopping or looking around. We talk a lot. Monday we went to Spain to shop duty free. Tomorrow we are going to Carcassonne to take Sonia to chinese lunch. It should be interesting.  I will let you know.

I miss you dearly and can't wait to see you especially the 4 little ones.  More later.
